My Bayside Week

May 17, 2011

Last week was one of the craziest weeks I’ve had in a while. My car must have racked up a couple hundred miles. I started off Monday with a business meeting of sorts, had an interview Tuesday morning, drove like a maniac to get to a Bayside acoustic show in Upland from Culver [...]

There are no goodbyes, only see you agains

April 24, 2011

January 15, 2005 was my 18th birthday and instead of “hitting a club” or something lame like that, I decided to head out to Chain Reaction to catch Hellogoodbye and Never Heard Of It play.  Little did my friends and I know that we were going to find one of our favorite bands playing this [...]

200 people, me and the Foo Fighters.

April 19, 2011

Record Store Day is the kind of event that makes me realize that there are still hardcore music fans out there.  If you don’t know about Record Store Day, you need to get in the know:  www.recordstoreday.com.  It’s basically when a bunch of amazing bands and artists put out exclusive records (such as b-sides, covers, [...]

March 25, 2011

Here’s our second episode of Music Business 101. I’ve been holding onto this video until I could launch lovelifemusic.net (before, it was kathyknows.com). I interned with Andy Villalpando in the summer of 2008 at Columbia Records’ A&R department. Andy has an amazing ear for great music. He’s brought in such good [...]

Late 90′s/Early 00′s Female Pop Gym Mix

March 24, 2011

I recently started going to the gym again (just a few more weeks til graduation!). I found myself skipping around songs because I couldn’t find anything I was in the mood for. I realized how much this interrupted the flow of my workout and thought “hmmm, if I had just 1 long song [...]

Music Business 101: Sue Lucarelli, Epitaph Records

Well folks, I’m starting something exciting for kathyknows.com.

I’ve learned a lot over the years and over my internships. I decided that I could help out people that don’t have the opportunities to be near New York, LA, Chicago, etc to have the experience of interning and learning hands on about the music business.

Therefore, I’ve brought the music biz to you.

Veara - What We Left Behind

myspace.com/veara

Veara is a four-piece band including a girl drummer (girl power!), produced by Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember. They released “What We Left Behind” in May. Yes, I am very behind on this band but this is my blog and I get to write about whatever I want. (insert big smile)

Hey Monday, Beneath It All

August 26, 2010

Hey Monday - Beneath It All

Hey Monday released their new EP, “Beneath It All” on August 17th. I have been reading a lot on them lately and a lot of controversy and drama has appeared in discussions about the future of the band. I’d like to state my opinion on some of the issues surrounding them.

Also, I’m giving away a couple copies of the record. Just leave a comment on your thoughts about anything in this post and I’ll pick two winners to win a copy of the LP on Monday.
